This is our first Kenyan we have featured as coffee roasters, and this one definitely does not disappoint. Right off the brew, distinct dried stone fruit flavors come through -- think plum, black cherry, and prune. This coffee has a significant body that allows for a syrupy mouthfeel and a brown sugar sweetness. There is a slight nutty finish on the palate, reminiscent of pine nuts.
Since this coffee possesses a heavier body, we recommend brewing the Kenya on brewing methods that specifically highlight this aspect -- any full immersion brewer, for instance. It also performs well on espresso.
We brew this coffee in house both hot or iced on the V60 to bring out its body and acidity.
Flash brew preparation:
-Brew time ~2:30
-Add ice in a 16oz cup
We brew this on the V60 in house. Keep in mind that this coffee has a heavier body, so any brewing method that highlights this will be ideal -- any full immersion method, V60, Aeropress.
