Selection:
We wanted to provide a fruit-bomb and explored different origins that we knew would be unique for our customers. We arrived at 4 different coffees from El Salvador that were all outstanding on the cupping table. This particular one stood out among the rest -- the "best of the best", so to speak.
Flavor Notes:
If there was such thing as a coffee-wine hybrid, the flavor notes to this coffee would align perfectly. At the cupping table, immediate aromas of berry and wine emanated from this particular El Salvador. On first sip, we noted a berry-forward, red wine, boozy taste to this coffee. Think raspberry and strawberry -- 2 flavor notes prominent in red wines.
Due to its booziness, this coffee has a slight fermenty, rustic feel that provides additional charisma -- there's a slight zing on the palate and it finishes with a pleasant sweetness.
The body of the coffee is medium and a very high perceived sweetness level and a medium-high acidity.
Highly recommended on filter, full immersion, or espresso. It does well on most brewing methods.
